FRIDA KAHLO
1907 ~ 1954
A Mexican artist who grew up during the Mexican Revolution, and led a short but very full life.
A tram accident at eighteen left her crippled and unable to have children, and she suffered for the the rest of her life whilst enduring countless operations and long stays in hospital. Her love life was just as tumultuous, with a marriage to Diego Rivera the muralist and love affair with Leon Trotsky. Her other passions were Mexican culture and folklore, much of which you can see in her work. She was an amazingly original artist whose work was rich, soulful and beautiful.
